As an occasional hiker in the Grand Canyon; I don't mind having to
pay for permits. But there does seem to be some need to keep track
of who is using what...

was calibrated a little closer to the newbie and Bob's is a little
more like "done...

8 hours would be a pretty leisurely pace. The Kaibab can be done with
packs in 4-5 without being a super athlete and the longer BA in 5-6.
