Equally absurd. If it was a day-use area people could die before

I am surprised that you are surprised. LOL. Back in '96 or 97' I
had an extended conversation with a guy that worked quite a few
winters at the Kaibab...

I believe Gaylord Staveley still owns and operates the Kaibab Lodge
with his wife.. They also run http://www.canyoneers.com/ which does
GC river trips......

I don't think the news article's intent was for the NPS to open the
entire North Rim and I think many would be happy with it being open
for day-use only......

Up till about '97 the Kaibab Lodge operated during the winter. (Note
that this is not the same as the Grand Canyon Lodge!) You could
contract for a snow...

The North Kaibab lodge used to offer a NRIM winter experience. They had
snowcats to bring visitors from Jacob's Lake. The lodge had groomed
cross country...
