The Phantom loop is difficult and unless you have a good deal of both
climbing, water management exp. I would think you would want a number of
easier hikes...

Getting in Shape, etc.
For hiking, backpacking, climbing the best training is hiking or
backpacking or climbing! I use a 2/3 rule and that is if I am
planning a hike that is 15...

Nankoweap would probably be OK from the Buffalo Ranch. There would be
some possibility of snow at the Saddle but this has been a very dry
snow free year so...
