You don't have to drink soda to take advantage. I start each trip
with one or two new 1 liter water bottles. I like the Aquafina wide
mouth - my wife says...

I started using 1-liter bottled-water bottles awhile back in a fit
of ultra-light fervor, when I weighed one of my Nalgene 1-liter
bottles and found it...

The best water cache is the five-gallon boxes of water that the
NPS distributes throughout the canyon because you don't have to carry
them in or carry them...

plastic one liter wide mouth Pepsi bottles work great for caching on the
trail also.

Plastic Gatorade bottles also work very well for storing water in
remote places for future use.
