When do the worst rains come to the canyon? I like to hike after a
heavy rain as the canyons becme re-transformed after each new rain.

In the situation you suggest, night hiking in brush, I guess I would
wear loose jeans and leather boots. Hard to suffer a bite through
that and the pants...

Most GPS units emit significant emissions. I have found two units often
severely interfere with one another.
