I recall quite a bit of info on the bears when I was at the Whitney
Portal (South of Bishop). They even had some nice examples of coolers
that bears had...

Based on what I have seen on the Pacific Crest Trail thread the bears
know about the cannisters and when they see one they will leave it alone!
