Back in the 60's I spent weekends doing heavy duty winter backpacking
trips in the Adirondacks in upstate NY. Being hot was not a problem
but dehydration...

Definitely not irrational. NPS and Phantom ranch staff frequently
travel on GC trails at night for their own reasons and I've heard
some rangers will hike...

Sewage leak
Just spoke with a friend who was on a river trip. As of Monday this
week, there was raw sewage flowing down the Little Colorado, from a
leak at Holbrook....
