I'd personally keep the May 24th date..it's colder on the North Rim
...heck,I've hiked Thunder in July/Aug but always left before
sunup....Tapeats/.Deer...

Most people drive the Fredonia logging road to the Thunder River
trailhead. It stays below 7500 feet and is open usually by mid-April.
