We were able to drive to Swamp Point a couple years ago the end of April but we had to move several trees off the road because the NPS hadn't been out there...

Phillip...I regularly hike to the River off GV trail..the 3975 is close to my trail and will work fine...I have done it as a day-hike but don't recommend...

permit process
permits r for the birds. i never got a good answer to how they take a stack of permits from earliest to latest in the day and draw out the proper winners....
