Nic, A beach is not a good place for a tarp. A tarp works best when you can use trees, etc. Both a tarp and tent work best when taut. Critters running...

Marty, If you consider that on many tents the vestibule needs to be staked, stakes hold the ground sheet in place, and without stakes a tent is an expensive...
