If you are camped upsteam in the LC a bit you can probably stay until
your food runs out or you become disinterested. That is the Navajo
Reservation....

You need to be contacting the backcountry reservations office. Areas
are opened up for new permits 4 months in advance and some favorite
areas fill quickly....
