Per the NPS web-site, you should allow at least 3 weeks to get back a
permit from a faxed or mailed application. You may be getting a nice
Christmas...

Faxing Permit Requests
Does anyone have an estimate on how long it takes to get a permit if
you fax in the request? I faxed one in on 12/1 and I'm checking my
mailbox...
