I did this hike with a group in April. We camped at Cottonwood(4.5miles), Grapevine(5.5miles), Lonetree(8.7miles)and Cremation with a day hike...

Hi Carol-- There is water at Cottonwood (be sure to check just
before you go) so you do not need to start off with two gallons.
