you could always backtrack, leave the park and camp in the National
Forest. This way...

Another option is to hike the perimeter of Hermit basin along the
rim. Go down the Hermit Trail, across the Dripping Springs Trail,
and then up the Boucher...

In the late 1800s, the Waldron Trail was supposedly used by horse
thieves (hence the name Horsethief Tank), however, Daniel Hogan is
actually given credit...
