I like keeping track of time and distance on different terrain. I
can't do 5 MPH without getting into a jog on flat ground. Maybe my
legs are shorter...

4 miles per hour is a pretty brisk walk, 5 seems more like a slow jog
to me. Good for you if you can keep up that pace in the Canyon for any
length of time.

Now that may dissuade a few folks from doing trips with you Gary.
I've never hiked with anyone who does 5 miles an hour for long
anyplace, especially not...

I walk a far as 27 miles a day here in the Tetons, the only difference is that the days are shorter and I am going to be traveling light. My pack will weigh...
