I never used to hike with poles until the trip leader on one of my
Tibet treks insisted that everyone had trekking poles for stream
crossings and rough...

I feel fortunate enough that I can drive to the Canyon to get my
permits if I really feel inclined to do so. I had considered faxing a
request in on January...

Hiking Poles
I am now a fan of the hiking poles also. These poles are not cheap but
they are well worth it if you do lots of hiking in the canyon or
elsewhere.

Just going to add my 2 cents worth here - we have Hiking poles and
love them. They really do help going both up and down hill. I've
converted all my hiking...
