One solution would be rechargeable batteries and a solar-powered recharger.
I've seen some recharger panels that roll up in a compact bundle.

CD burners are getting fairly light. That allows you to transfer
images to CD. They also make devices that have a 20 GB or greater
hard drive to transfer...

Don't forget that all important permit Gary.
An Olympus 8080 might be a better choice. Much lighter, higher
resolution, has an excellent lens that covers...
