This is my argument for why a sat phone is better than a mirror. A
mirror, just like the PLT just says "HERE I AM" with no chance for
communications....

From military days, a 10' by 20' flat clear patch on the ground is a minimum, but they need quite a bit more clearance above that for the rotors and tail. ...
