Thanks for the ideas of custom fitted boots. I suppose the main problem is
that I live in Iowa and there aren't really any serious outdoor stores....

We did this same hike in late April this year. Temps were in the 100s
and we desperately were seeking shade. The hike from Hermit to
Granite didn't take...

We did almost the same trip in Oct '95, except we went directly from
Hermit Rapids to Granite, skipped Indian Gardens and stayed at Horn
Ck
between Granite...
