For that permit I am not sure how the BIC knows that they are hiking
from the north rim.
That is an excellent itinerary if you enter and exit from the south...

Canyon withdrawal
I am going through Canyon withdrawal already and my next trip is still
almost 3 months away. Ouch!

You have a better chance of getting a permit arriving at the
North Rim than you do from the South. Another option you may consider is
