Two comments on your trip.
I would take all the first time hikers down SK the fastest and most
direct route. That gives you time to get cool...

Expect snow / ice on the upper parts of Tanner in Nov. I don't recall
any places up there where you'd die if you slipped, but you sure could
break something...
