The boys and I were on our way from the the Shinumo trail to Harvey's
route out at Tatahatso in the mid-'70s, carrying a 100' or so of
goldline....

I suspect that, in this case, it was actually Venus. If I remeber
correctly, the planet was in the direction of the trail toward
Phantom, or southwest from...

At almost any place a backpacker can reach the river there is
probably enough flat ground for a couple of people to sleep. The
river campsites inventory...

The historic trailbed has been largely restored. At the time of our
hike a couple weeks ago trail work was ending for the season, but I
have heard there...
