No one on the rescue team seemed to think it was unusual. We were
surprised and a bit frustrated that the frequent helicopter tour
traffic did not see us....

I just posted a picture of what a mesh pocket looks like after a close
encounter with catclaw. I still buy packs with mesh pockets.

I have to admit that I am really surprised that one could signal a
commercial aircraft at 35,000 feet. Have there been many cases of this
happening? Seems...

Not at all.
The only problem with low flying craft that I can think of is they
pass overhead quicker since they are much lower than a commercial jet...

Okay - so a commercial jet flying at say 30,000 feet will catch a
signal (after a lot of attempts).
Is it pointless to flash helos or tourist flights...

carefully and choose your routes wisely then the packs with mesh pockets
will provide a...
