Thanks for the narrative. FYI, the BSA rules now are "2 deep
leadership", meaining you have to have at least 2 leaders at any event
where boys are present....

I led Boy Scout field trips for 10 years or more in the '70s and
early '80s (I was the activities committee chair for Troop 800 in
Phoenix for much of that...
