And scorpions under rocks. Always check the bottom and shady side of rocks before picking them up.
I leave 2' long cords on my main tie downs to tie around...

Rocks and cord most of the time.
You are really lucky if you find a place in GC where a full set of tent
pegs will go in. It can get pretty windy at times...

If you can avoid taking tent stakes, you save yourself a few ounces of
weight (and frustration!). Much of the ground throughout the GC is too
hard to pound...
