I agree that Deer Creek is probably very doable for you, someday when
you get the chance to do it. That ledge near the patio is used by
hundreds of river...

Smithsonian "Below the Rim"
Last year's Nat Geo feature on Grand Canyon was a disappointment to
serious enthusiasts like us. Some nice pictures, nothing new, vague
large-scale maps...

If the narrows is a problem for someone, with some effort one can go
up and over the saddle on the upstream side. It is very possible to
work your way...
