You layer your core. I've done a lot of trips in and out of GC in snow
and shorts. I get pretty hot once I'm active, especially going uphill.

You don't indicate how far you are going. If you are going to Cottonwood,
there can be a cool draft down the side canyon at night.

Rosemary,
I'll second Don's recommendation. We did R2R in early October 2005 where we left with patchy snow on the ground and frost on car windows, etc....
