Is being throw out of a raft dangerous? Does it result in death?

I agree, he did have the boat set up properly for the run, and they had
all scouted it together. After 8 - 10 days he also had the paddlers
pretty well...

BTW, I should have said "flat" not "quiet" -- the surprising thing is
