I've also done the food-sack-in-the-pack-under-my-head routine when
not using a tent, but one night (not in the Canyon)I woke up to hear

Give some thought to the Widforss Trail altho it is near the developed
area and does get a fair number of "tourists." Also the Cape Final
Trail.
