Some postings mentioned tin boxes that come with cookies or
crackers. where would these be sold? Apparently not in LA area.

This Sunday I'm taking Mary Worthington into the Canyon.We
plan on going to the river and back in a day. Mary is 94 and never been in the
Canyon...

I've also done the food-sack-in-the-pack-under-my-head routine when
not using a tent, but one night (not in the Canyon)I woke up to hear
a critter rummaging...
