I beg to differ. On my April 2005 rafting trip in the Canyon, we saw a bear on river left
(south side) toward the western end - somewhere around mile 208 or...

Mary -- I think you will always find a small spring at the Muav, base
of the steep descent. The advantage is this is way shorter than
Tilted Mesa either...
