As noted stakes don't do well. Add extra long cord to your tie outs and if it gets windy find a rock and use the cords to anchor the tent.

Yes, it is free standing. The stakes are for windy conditions.

Stakes don't always work so free standing tents are the absolute best
way to go. If yours is not free standing then big rocks will work in
place of stakes....
