Hi Keith--I suffer from that on and off as well. I got an ankle brace from my doctor that has pads that put pressure on my Achilles tendons which I use...

I have done New Hance to Grandview several times. Not much shade on Horsehoe Mesa. Mainly junipers and some pinyon pines. You could find a little shade. ...
