i agree completely with adair....i don't usually
take a gps unit or sat phone on a hike ( but
always do on the river ) but i'm not against them
and own...

hi folks...am finally back in
wickenburg/hell...my poor beloved beemer isn't
quite healed ( i had to stop 6 times on way up to
flag and 3 times on way back )...

Not some people that I have encountered in GC who did have a GPS, but
still couldn't locate a fork in the trail.

had the common-sense of preparation to have a PLB, suggesting that

Would not a GPS have helped to alleviate the lack of skills of a
totally lost person.

I have called out over a hundred rescue and recovery missions and some of the
problems are: people do not read signs, maps or know what trail they are on,...
