Actually I find South Kaibab easier on my knees than Bright Angel. The
steps on upper Bright Angel really jar my knees. YMMV Agreed Bright Angel
has water...

One more suggestion--go down Bright Angel--it is much easier on the
knees and has water too. mp

Excellent points - my earlier advice may have assumed a much higher
level of ability. Any novice hiker would be well advised to take a 2
day rest...
