John- If night one is the Redwall overlook on the Tanner ...fabulous spot BTW.. then night two at Cardenas Creek is a very nice spot. The trail is not far...

Both times I hiked the Escalante route I started out from Cardenas Beach. It is a large beach with plenty of good camping. The Escalante route starts there...
