You can cut a section of metal window screen to something like 36" x 18", fold in half, then sew up the two sides with thin stainless wire from the hardware...

I have used cookie/popcorn tins in the past, but have used plastic coffee containers more recently. Tape the lids on with duct tape. You can cut them up...
