i heartily agree...most will never see 'empty' and it is amazing how far you can hike at night when you are out of water

I'd be willing to bet that many hikers have not tested their energy
tank to know were empty is. Sometimes I think its mind over body.

of course the main reason the gcnp requires permits,according to a ranger friend,and requires experience for the harder hikes is to stop nuisance law suits...
