I love my gps for off trail & winter highpointing but I always have a
backup plan as nothing is 100 percent. Used mine last weekend during
an off trail...

Your hiking and elevation test report is excellent qualification. You
"lucky dog" getting a spot on a trip even if it is a short one. Good
plan, no tent.

One other thing..after you get up and have your breakfast at PR, when you get to the silver bridge..stop and take your watch off and put it where you can't...

If you are just "hanging out" at Indian Garden for the afternoon.. No tent needed..just rest/sleep on top of the picnic tables. Soak in the creek, wet...
