Thanks Sam for your input. We live at 7,200ft and hike to 10,500 so altitude isn't an issue. The heat is a major concern.New Mexico just hasn't been that hot...

3Alot depends on your group... Where are you coming from? Have you
hiked down 5,000ft and then back up 5,000ft the next day in 100-110F
in very dry temps?...
