Absolutely. We will be doing the exact same thing in Flagstaff soon - taking
taxi to hotel and getting car a couple days later. Doesn't save THAT much...

Have you tried any of the off-airport rental car agencies... for
example Hertz Local Edition or Enterprise? Their lots not on airport
property shouldn't...
