There is a camp at Monument where the Tonto trail crosses it and also camping at the river. You should stay wherever you applied to stay on your permit. MP

The distance from Indian Gardens to Salt Creek is quite short and
level. There may be water at Salt Creek this time of year, but water
there is sometimes...
