Hanging out at a good landing where crossings are common seems to be
good enough... just wave and they will stop if they can. Hiker
crossings around...

I am aware of one case of hantavirus in the inner canyon
and one in the developed area (Grand Canyon/Tusayan).
There could be more. I do not know of any...
