Any real risk from snakes seems to be more perception than reality. Snake encounters are not that rare for me and typically 1-3 rattlers each 3-10 day trip....

I agree that newbie's tend to be a bit "exposure shy" but all of us started that way. Shores is a great BA campsite host...too bad the ranger put the snake...
