Maps
A company called MAPTECH (www.maptech.com) has a CD out for the whole canyon.
Several different map types and scales are on it ( park service, USGS etc)....

I don't think you've got enough time to really explore...there are some
great ruins but can't be done day...

My wife and I did the Utah Flats Route between Christmas and New Years past and a map of the route can be found on my Grand Canyon Explorer web site...

1) I've seen a few bighorn on the Bright Angel and Kaibab trails, but
not on the Tanner (yet...). I see one every year or two, so it's not an
everyday...

My wife and I did the Beamer to LC last year. We camped at Palisades
Creek and dayhiked to the LC. That is the way I would probably do it
again. There is not...
