I used to take a book along, but now I take an iPod loaded with an audio book. Weighs next to nothing, and you don't need a flashlight.

It sounds like one of the discontinued Brunton stoves. My hiking buddy uses one. It folds up almost flat and fits right under the cavity in his propane...
