Here's another vote for MSR Dromedary. Although not perfect - I have had a couple develop SLOW leaks, and I'm pretty careful with them - they seem way better...

Food scent is an interesting theory but more likely is that ravens are smart and experienced enough raiders to know sacks of various types often contain food...
