When I did the Gems I was occasionally finding myself on or off a 'braided' and vague Tonto trail, even with Zen-like concentration......but it never took...

I think when I did the Gems I was listening to Grand Funk Railroad and Steppenwolf on my iPod, mostly. It really helps me stay on the trail!!

You could do a side exploration to Miner's Spring (aka Page Spring) to get water. It's about 400 feet below Horseshoe Mesa. The trail drops off the east side...
