Interesting. We did it 5 springs ago and the top of the slide was still simple for a 5' 9" Illinois dude. And we saw nobody on the trail either. ...

I've had no problems with it but always treat it. There was a lot of scat, etc in the canyon above it, and I doubt it is a deep spring at all.
