Hitchhiking illegal in the park? I've done it before going between trailheads and have been cheerfully picked up and given rides by park rangers.

Pinny, It certainly depends on the circumstances of the hike. I've slept on the ground with a Tyvek ground cloth much more than I've slept in a tent. But...

The best map that I know of is produced by the BLM (Arizona Strip District Office). I use this map in conjunction with 7.5-minute topos and a GPS. Â...

Good question. I haven't driven those road yet but plan to do so sometime. I was planning on using the USGS 7.5' topo maps to navigate them along with a GPS....

OK, I read Ray Jardine's book and I tried the tarps on several trips. But just wasn't savvy enough to make them work. The wind noise, the rigging hassle -ugh....
